A Step-by-Step Guide...

Branding Experiences...

Prep-work: Research

You do some homework, I do some research and we dream big on a private pinterest board. This is where it all begins so let’s leap in heart first!

Phase One: Style

Say hello to your moodboard and colour palette! I’ll spend time creating a beautiful and authentic aesthetic that aligns with your vision.

Phase Two: Logo

You’ll get two custom logo samples designed by mwah! You choose your fav and I spruce it up based on your feedback so it’s perfect!

Phase Three: Branding

We take your chic new logo and I create your brand visuals (alternate logos, watermarks, fonts, patterns or graphics).

Phase Four: Collateral (depends on chosen experience)

Now that your visuals are established it’s time to design your collateral (business card, stationery, social media graphics or lead magnet).

Phase Five: Finalising

Get ready to swap the tea for bubbly — it’s launch time! I’ll create a brand board and style guide to help you share your new brand identity with the world.

Web Design Experiences...

Phase Two: HOMEPAGE

I will create an homepage in an actual browser window. You'll be able to test out the functionality and see your branding in action!

Phase Three: DEVELOPMENT

I will take your official homepage and create the rest of your website based on the design. When I'm done, you'll be able to see the entire website and provide feedback so I can spruce it up until it's perfect!

Phase Four: ADD-ONS
(depends on chosen experience)

Now that your website is complete, I'll make sure that all the links are working, any plugins are installed and test  the final features.

Phase Five: Finalising

Get ready to swap the tea for bubbly — it’s launch time! I’ll create a user manual for your website and we'll have our Virtual Launch Session where you'll gain the confidence to manage the site yourself!

02. The Virtual Questionnaire

Let's establish what your vision is, so we can elevate it & launch it!

Which experience have you chosen? Be sure to click the appropriate questionnaire and allocate amount twenty minutes to read your questionnaire and write your answers.

03. The Pinterest Board Collaboration

You'll uncover your vision first, and I'll re-define it in with kick-ass strategy & design...

This is not an essential step, but it will help speed up the process and give me a general brief of your vision and how you want your final brand or website to look. Typically I use Pinterest, but feel free to collate images that you consider inspiration and pop them into a folder on our shared Google Drive.

Pinterest

  1. On Pinterest, create a secret board with the title of your business.
  2. Follow me and invite me to your secret board.
  3. Once you've added your pins, go back through your board and leave comments on your favorites stating what you like about them.

Inspiration Folder

  1. I have already shared a Google Drive folder with you for your brand or website, in the folder named 'inspiration'
  2. Add a text document. Write the name of all your favorite items (with the file name) and explain what you like about them.

A few tips on building your inspiration:

  1. What to collect: Textures, patterns, layouts, fonts, images and graphics that represent the vibe you envision for your brand.
  2. Have a consistant color scheme.
  3. Don't have more than 30 images on your board.
  4. Refine your board. You can start with dozens of images you like but refine until you get your board exactly how you want it. If the board isn't perfect, what is missing? What needs to change? (more color, different fonts). The point of this inspiration period is to simply be creative, enjoy it!

04. Feedback Tips

Making the most of your design experience...

WHY YOU NEED TO WORD YOUR FEEDBACK CORRECTLY

I base my entire process and designs on this homework and your overall vision. To do that correctly and effectively, it takes a lot of careful research and one-on-one attention. During each phase, just remember that I am giving you this careful and complete attention to create a brand that not only you will love, but that your ideal audience will love too.

For this reason, it is essential that you provide feedback that is constructive and enables me to create a solution or go in a different direction.

HOW TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK CORRECTLY

When you provide feedback use phrases like:

“This moodboard is too _____ or it doesn’t have enough of _______”
“I like ______ but I don’t like ______”
“When I look at my brand I’d like to feel more _______”
By telling me what you do and don’t like, and why, it saves both of use time and enables us to create your dream brand more effectively!

ESSENTIAL NOTE

As a brand designer, my main goal is following the brief and making sure that I am doing everything I can to create a strategic and authentic brand that targets your ideal audience.

Are you ready to give us some real honest feedback?
